What are Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins are probably the most frequent disease we encounter at our center. It appears more frequently in women, and it consists on dilation of the superficial veins, leading to varicosities.
Symptoms
Patients usually experience itching, heaviness, a burning sensation, pain and weariness in the legs. If not treated, this disease may evolve and present complications as varicose ulcers, thrombophlebitis, and brownish pigmentation and thinning of the skin.
How do we treat them?
There is a venous lab at our center, which allows us, with transilumination and pneumopletismography techniques, to know the severity of the pathology and to map correctly the affected veins, in order to recommend the best treatment.
We offer different alternatives for the treatment of varicose veins, all under strict hygienic procedures:
Sclerotherapy (venous injections)- Consists on applying the highest quality medical substances, highly effective and under the guidance of our medical personnel. There are excellent functional as well as cosmetic outcomes. Our clinic is recognized as pioneer in the treatment of varicose veins. Our methods are based in the Canadian, French and Argentinean schools, which have set the world standards within phlebology.
Ambulatory Microsurgery - We perform ambulatory microsurgery on patients with a more severe and developed venous disease for a similar functional and cosmetic result.
We also master the conventional surgery techniques offering each patient an individualized treatment.
Derivative Surgery- For complex venous disease (posthrombotic syndrome, tumoral compressions, etc.) we offer derivative surgery (venous bypass) as an alternative; a procedure we perform with synthetic materials.
For very complex, severe cases we also offer endovascular surgery, a surgical solution for many of these pathologies, a minimal invasive alternative to the conventional open surgery
