¿What is it?
Laser is an must have tool to treat certain types of vascular diseases.
Laser Techniques used in the clinic
Transdermic Laser: Transdermic Laser for vascular spider has varied results, it has to be used in small veins since the use of it in larger varicose veins has proven no benefits. In our clinic, the laser is used in combination of sclerotheraphy techniques for the treatment of vascular spiders.
Endovascular Laser: Today we practice exclusion of the mayor safena vein using endovascular therapy with laser. We catetherize with a needle the safena vein at the knee level. Using the guidance of a Doppler ultrasound we use a small catheter with a laser fiber(tube of 3 mm) inside the vein, the walls of the vein lean and the vein is closed, the blood circulates around the other healthy deep veins eliminating therefore the main cause of the varicose veins.
The results of endovascular laser are excelent. It is the best alternative to avoid surgery and the results are equal or better than conventional surgery; unlike surgery, this procedure can be done at our clinic with local anesthetis and with a fast recuperation. Not all patients with varicose veins are candidates for endovascular laser, a medical examination must be done prior to the treatment to verify that the patient qualifies for this procedure.
