What is Carotid Disease?
Carotid arteries deliver blood to the brain. In carotid artery disease, these arteries are occluded, causing cerebral embolisms and strokes. It is highly recommended that patients with high risk factors such as smoking, arterial hypertension, diabetes, etc. undergo an evaluation of their extracranial cerebro-vascular territory. This process consists in a non-invasive assessment of cerebral blood flow with an Eco-Doppler, and a selective angiography of supra-aortic arteries in selected patients.
How do we treat it?
We have over 15 years of experience for practicing Carotid Surgery on a weekly basis. Our results are often used as models of the excellent outcomes of treatment for this pathology. This disease can also be treated with endovascular procedures in selected patients, all under special cerebral security elements.
